William Beeton, a Washington D.C. native, received his Master in Architecture degree from The University of Virginia in 1995. After graduating, Bill apprenticed at Tichenor and Thorp Architects in Los Angeles then moved to his brother’s interior design firm, Thomas M. Beeton and Associates, heading up the architecture division. In 2001, he started his own firm, William Beeton and Company LLC, in Sag Harbor, New York which reflects Bill’s multifaceted interests in residential and commercial design, interiors and landscape. Since 2003, Bill has partnered with Walter Wilcoxen RA in a studio approach that holistically integrates other members of the design community and which emphasizes the value of the collective mind in the realization of thoughtful, distinctive projects.
Beginning with hand-drawn plans, Bill and Walter provide clients with personal attention throughout the design and construction process resulting in classic, well-proportioned and highly detailed spaces. The firm has designed nearly twenty new houses to date as well as numerous large-scale renovations and is nearing completion of its first commercial space. Although the projects range in scale, central to all of the firm’s work is Bill’s ability to identify and draw out the essence of a site, something that gives his buildings a particular quality of harmony and belonging.
The firm’s work strives to go beyond a defining style, incorporating a wide range of references from vernacular and historical precedent to contemporary architecture, landscape and interior design.
